Balloons 'n' Barrels
Time for another devlog, wouldn't you say? Well I'm writing one anyway.
First of all, a huge thanks to everyone who has checked out the alpha! People seem to enjoy the game and I've gotten some great feedback that will definitely help shape [Speer] in the coming weeks. And if you haven't played it yet, you can still do so right here!
Now to show off two new features I've added since the alpha build. Most importantly I've added skewerable items which you'll use to navigate the stages and solve puzzles. I have a couple of different ideas in mind that'll utilize this mechanic, but the first item that's already completely implemented are explosive barrels. As you can probably guess, you'll use these to destroy breakable walls.
The other feature I've added are balloons, which float around the stage carrying items. You can either pop the balloons with your Speer so that the item falls down, or you can just shoot the item off the ballon directly. You'll need to do both during the course of the game: You could for example either shoot a barrel into a breakable wall once it's at the right height, or you could pop the balloon so the barrel falls down and forms a stepping stone to jump on.
Development on the game is going well and things are really starting to come together. I've written down a couple more ideas just this morning, some of which I'm really excited to explore and try out. Make sure to follow me on Twitter if you want sneak peeks and quicker updates and as always: Get in touch and let me know what you think about [Speer] so far!
I'll see you next time!
